Now you can do something to
eliminate those unsightly lines and wrinkles!
Unwanted facial lines, wrinkles
and creases are caused by a combination of three
factors:
Aging
The effects of aging can be minimized by nutritional and hormone therapy.
Gravity
The force of gravity contributes to wrinkling of skin, but is a factor we
cannot control.
Muscular Action
Muscular action causes facial expressions, such as frowning and squinting,
resulting in furrows, creases and crow’s- feet that give you an angry,
tense or older appearance. Repetitive muscular action results in increased
tone in the muscle, even at rest. In time, permanent structural changes
will occur in the skin. By blocking muscular action, creases will be eliminated
and permanent lines and wrinkles can be prevented.
Botox can eliminate unwanted lines and
wrinkles.
Botox is a protein made by a bacterium that
affects the muscular action. It disables the
muscle by blocking the release of neurotransmitters
from the nerve to that muscle. This prevents
the muscle from contracting.
Several injections using a very small needle
are administered to the muscles that cause facial
lines. The sting of the injection lasts only
2 to 3 seconds. Most people notice a change in
their appearance within 2 to 3 days.
Typically the effects of the first treatment
last 8 to 12 weeks. The effects of subsequent
treatments last longer, and eventually can be
permanent.
Botox is safe at the doses employed. No toxic
effects have been reported in the medical literature.
However, people with egg allergy should not have
this treatment. Avoiding aspirin or other anti-
inflammatory medications for a day or more prior
to treatment is beneficial in preventing bruising
at the site of injection.
